Lore & Background

The Incendiary Grenade was introduced in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as a new piece of equipment not seen in previous installments of the series. It serves as a tactical tool for area denial, forcing opponents out of cover or blocking pathways.

In Their Own Story

Round 24. Overtime. 1v3, CT side, de_dust2. The last Terrorist is lurking behind the A-site boxes, and the CT's utility is spent except for one canister in his hand. He doesn't need to see him. He doesn't need to hear him. He just needs to make the space he's in unbearable.

He crouches at the long A ramp, angles the throw just past the box, and lets go. The canister bounces once, twice, and kisses the concrete at the base of the boxes. A soft hiss. Then the orange bloom—slow at first, a ring of flame spreading outward like a slow heartbeat. The heat shimmers the air.

Three seconds later, footsteps. Fast, urgent, retreating. The Terrorist is out. The CT peeks the corner, gun up, and the round is his. The fire lingers, licking the dust off the concrete, long after the kill feed has scrolled on.

Reader's Guide

The Incendiary Grenade can be purchased in the grenade category. When thrown, it ignites a patch of ground that deals damage over time to any player who enters the fire. It is effective for clearing bomb sites, blocking choke points, or flushing out enemies hiding behind cover. The fire persists for several seconds, making it a valuable tool for both offensive and defensive strategies.
