Plot

Ian Duncan's anthropology class consisted of him playing viral YouTube clips, which got the students fired up until Shirley asked what came up when you searched for "God." Later, she tried to recruit Abed to make a Christian-themed viral video, but he wasn't interested. Meanwhile, Pierce had grown fed up with his younger friends making fun of him, so he started hanging out with a crew of elderly rule-breakers who called themselves the "Hipsters" because they all had artificial hips.

Abed found Shirley in the library and told her he had read the entire New Testament after she suggested it. He was captivated by the Jesus story but wanted to do something fresh, so he conceived a "Jesus movie for the post-post-modern world." His project, titled ABED and featuring himself, was about a filmmaker exploring Jesus who comes to realize he is somehow Jesus and that the camera represents God. Shirley was not impressed and walked away.

The Hipsters were playing poker and drinking liquor; Leonard advised Pierce to claim they were playing bingo if anyone caught them. Dean Pelton walked in, and Pierce convinced him to let the game continue by pretending to be confused due to his age, which earned him the Hipsters' admiration. Shirley pressed on, getting Jehovah's Witness Troy and atheist Britta to reluctantly help with a Jesus rap video. Abed interrupted, having persuaded the entire student body that they were part of something significant.

Students gathered on the lawn around Abed as he filmed his epic, and when Shirley objected, they called her a Pharisee, causing her to flee.
