Making and release
The remasters were released in 2019 on the now-defunct streaming service DCTV.[3] Skit footage shot by Margera and his friends during class in a field was later assembled to create the CKY series.[4] Rake Yohn appears on the cover of CKY2K, which was the second film in the series and came out on May 22, 2000.[5] Following a 2003 lawsuit concerning a scene with a minor, CKY2K was taken out of production, partly because of copyright problems.[6]
CKY3 was the initial video in the series to be removed from sale because of copyright restrictions.[7]
What the cited sources add
Frantz gave an official update on the project on December 2, 2018, stating that production was underway.[8] A 2003 Philadelphia Inquirer article reported that a minor's parents filed a lawsuit after a scene in CKY2K showed the minor exposing his genitalia in front of a public restaurant.[6] On a 2011 episode of Radio Bam, Joe Frantz announced his intention to remaster the CKY series in HD.[8] Frantz stated on his Instagram and Twitter accounts on May 15, 2021, that he would upload the HD re-releases for free on YouTube.[8]
