Jenner played four seasons of major junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals, where he was named team captain. He set career-highs in goals, assists, and points during his sophomore season, and was selected to represent Team Orr at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. After being drafted by Columbus, he returned to the Generals and led the team in scoring before signing a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets in March 2012. He also played for the Springfield Falcons in the AHL during the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs.

Internationally, Jenner first represented Canada at the 2010 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, winning a silver medal.
