Background

About a year after Krewella's first album came out, Kris Trindl filed a lawsuit against Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf for $5 million, alleging they forced him out of the group for financial gain once he got sober from alcohol addiction. The sisters responded with their own legal action, claiming he was never sober and that he quit on his own. The dispute ended in a settlement in August 2015, though the terms were kept private. This conflict led Deadmau5 to support Kris, which sparked a wave of online hostility toward the band. In 2015, Krewella announced they were making a new EP for a 2016 tour. They teased several tracks like "Broken Record" and "Helter Skelter," but only three ended up on the final release. Before the EP dropped, they put out two singles: "Say Goodbye" in November 2014 and "Somewhere to Run" in March 2015.

Promotion

Before the EP dropped, Krewella put out teasers for six tracks, including "Surrender the Throne," "Marching On," "Beggars," "Broken Record," "Ammunition," and "Can't Forget You." The last of those came out one day before the EP itself. On April 29, 2016, they shared a 30-second clip of Yasmine rapping over Kanye West's "I Love Kanye," declaring "Fk tomorrow, we'll show you the new Krewella" ahead of the single "Beggars" with Diskord, whose video arrived at the same time. Later that year, they toured 16 dates across North America and Canada with a live band and new material.
