BLT cocktail

The BLT cocktail is a savory, bacon-infused drink that mimics the flavors of a BLT sandwich.[1][2] It typically combines bacon-infused vodka or bourbon with tomato water and lettuce elements.[3][4]
Key facts and history
The Oregonian reported in July 2009 that the Gilt Club in Oregon served the drink with a rim coated in salt mixed with crushed bacon.[1] The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported in April 2012 that mixologist Paul Yeomans in Florida made a version with bacon salt, tomato water, and cucumber vodka.[5] Molecular mixologist Brent Jones, working at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, CO, created a BLT cocktail using bacon fat washed vodka, fresh juiced organic tomatoes, and a foam lettuce topping.[6]

A Fox News article from August 2009 stated that bacon-infused spirits were part of a "carnivorous cocktail" trend nudging into the mainstream.[2] The same Fox News article noted that Thrasher's BLT cocktail was available at his speakeasy PX in Alexandria.[2] Bacon Today reported in August 2009 that Brent Jones, a molecular mixologist at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, CO, created his BLT cocktail.[6] The Food Network published a 2013 recipe for a BLT cocktail that called for bacon fat-washed bourbon, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish.[7]
