Northern Continent
Home of the Silver King and the site of the legendary Northern Campaign.
The Northern Continent serves as the primary stage for the devastating conflict between Claymores and Awakened Beings in Norihiro Yagi's series. This region is defined by the presence of Isley, the 'Silver King' of the North, who commands a massive army of Awakened Beings. Unlike other regions, the North hosts one of the three known 'Creatures of the Abyss,' establishing it as a focal point for the most powerful entities in the world. The narrative centers on the Northern Campaign, where Claymores confront Isley's forces, leading to catastrophic losses and the emergence of new alliances among survivors.

Lore & Background
The North is ruled by Isley, a Creature of the Abyss whose awakened form resembles a centaur capable of shape-shifting its arms into various weapons like lances, shields, crossbows, and swords. Historically, three Creatures of the Abyss maintained a status quo across the island: Lautrec in the West, Alfons in the North, and Mucha in the South. This balance shattered when Isley began raising an army to expand his influence into other regions. During the Northern Campaign, Priscilla arrived and defeated Isley. In a pivotal moment, Isley swore allegiance to her, claiming he won to conceal her true power as she had defeated Teresa years prior. Isley gathered his Northern Army with a promise to take Priscilla south, even granting Raki valuable tutelage in swordsmanship before departing.
Reader's Guide
Key figures and events define survival strategies in the North. Isley, despite his immense power as a centaur-like Awakened Being, displayed genteel manners and respect even toward opponents. He became consort to Riful of the West later, but initially served Priscilla. The region is also home to Rigaldo, another powerful Awakened Being defeated by Priscilla alongside Isley.
For Claymores, the North represents a high-danger zone where standard tactics fail against beings like Isley who can shape-shift limbs into weapons. Survivors of the Northern Campaign, such as Miria, Deneve, and Helen, later combined techniques—like Helen's Flexible Limb Stretching with Jean's Drill Sword—to survive future encounters. The area is strictly associated with the 'Northern Army' raised by Isley and the subsequent tracking missions by Abyss Feeders who hunt Creatures of the Abyss using scent alone after losing Yoki senses.
