Last updated
David Tennant hosted this Channel 4 panel show, a knock-out tournament where two celebrity teams, each with a captain and two guests, competed across seven rounds focused on British and American comedy. Open Mike Productions produced it, and it aired from 15 September to 27 October 2012.
Rounds
The Year In Question appears in all episodes; teams view television clips and must determine the year of first broadcast and identify the theme tune. The Young Ones, featured in episodes 1–3 and 5–7, involves a child performing a stand-up routine based on a comedian, which the teams must identify. Book Group, only in episode 4, has three extracts from a comedian's autobiography read aloud; teams identify the author, earning 3 points after one extract, 2 after two, or 1 after all three.
In the Frame, present in all episodes, shows stills from comedy films with actors' flesh removed; after naming the film, teams answer a related question. Sitcom Graveyard, in episodes 1–3, 5, and 7, has one team read three sitcom plots, only one real, and the other team identifies the real one; in the final, one team chose to answer a question on Mind Your Language, leaving the other with this round. Mind Your Language, in episodes 4, 6, and 7, shows a clip of a British sitcom remade abroad, and teams identify the original sitcom; in the final, one team chose this round, leaving the other with Sitcom Graveyard.
In the Spotlight gives one team member one minute to answer quick-fire questions on a specific category. What Happens Next shows a clip paused at a cliffhanger, and teams must say what follows.
