Salvation, an American suspense drama, first aired on July 12, 2017. CBS ordered 13 episodes straight to series in October 2016, following initial development announced in September 2013. A second 13-episode season premiered on June 25, 2018, but the network canceled the show on November 20, 2018, after two seasons.

Cast
Santiago Cabrera portrays Darius Tanz, a billionaire scientist and founder of Tanz Industries who becomes a key figure in the U.S. defense against an asteroid. Darius briefly serves as Vice President and later becomes President after President Mackenzie's assassination. Jennifer Finnigan plays Grace Barrows, the Pentagon press secretary who later becomes senior advisor to President Mackenzie and President Tanz; she has an intimate relationship with Harris Edwards and works with Darius to prevent the asteroid collision. Charlie Rowe appears as Liam Cole, an MIT student who is among the first outside government to predict the asteroid's impact; he works with his mentor Malcolm Croft and Darius on an EM drive for a gravity tractor. Jacqueline Byers plays Jillian Hayes, a science fiction writer who becomes involved with Liam and is later chosen by Darius to select 160 survivors if the collision cannot be stopped. Rachel Drance portrays Zoe Barrows, Grace's daughter, in season 1 and recurring in season 2. Shazi Raja plays Amanda Neel, an investigative reporter in season 1 who is assassinated before she can publish the story about the asteroid. Ian Anthony Dale plays Harris Edwards, Deputy Secretary of Defense who is promoted to Secretary of Defense after his superior is fired. Ashley Thomas appears as Alonzo Carter, a D.C. police detective in season 2 investigating Claire Rayburn's disappearance. Melia Kreiling plays Alycia Vrettou, a computer scientist and former protégé of Darius Tanz who leads a group of captive scientists in RE/SYST. Dennis Boutsikaris portrays Malcolm Croft, an MIT professor and Liam's mentor. Erica Luttrell plays Claire Rayburn, Senior Adviser and later White House Chief of Staff to President Monroe Bennett. Tovah Feldshuh portrays Pauline Mackenzie, the President of the United States. Josette Jorge plays Karissa, Darius' assistant in season 1.
