The series opened with a two-part special set in northern France, filmed in Fishguard and Cardiff, featuring characters Dylan, David, Louise and Alicia offering medical aid at a refugee camp. This was followed by an extended 70-minute special episode. Erika Hossington continued as series producer but resigned in August 2017, with Lucy Raffety replacing her; Raffety's first credited episode aired on 4 November 2017, while Hossington's final credited episode aired on 4 November 2017. Simon Harper began his role as executive producer in series 31, following his appointment in May 2017. Mark Catley served as co-executive producer for the opening two episodes, then became series executive consultant from episode 3 onward.
