Odzaberd
Urartian-founded settlement on Lake Sevan with medieval occupation.
Odzaberd is an ancient settlement on the southern shore of Lake Sevan, near the town of Tsovinar. Founded in the 8th century BCE by the Urartian king Rusa I, the site comprises a central citadel, a fortress, and an extensive outer town. A stele with a cuneiform inscription records its dedication to the weather god Theispas. Archaeological excavations in 2016 and 2017 confirmed continuous occupation into the Middle Ages.
