Characters
Bing is a three-year-old black anthropomorphic bunny and the titular protagonist. He wears a green shirt, red and black chequered dungarees, and black and white shoes. His favourite toy is Hoppity Voosh, a rabbit superhero. Bing loves to hum, whistle, pretend, and do untroubling childlike things. In the British English version, Bing is voiced by Elliot Kerley in series 1 and Rafferty Railton in series 2; in the American English version, he is voiced by Santino Barnard. Flop is Bing's caregiver, a short orange-skinned creature presumed to be a stuffed toy rabbit. Flop guides Bing through toddler life, entertaining and soothing him whenever Bing faces a problem. Flop is voiced by Mark Rylance in series 1 and 3 and by David Threlfall in series 2. Sula is a brown anthropomorphic elephant and one of Bing's best friends. She wears a pink and yellow dress with trousers, magenta socks, and golden sparkly shoes. Her favourite toy is Fairy Hippo. In the British English version, Sula is voiced by Eve Bentley in series 1, Poppie Boyes in series 2, and Matilda Firth in series 3; in the American English version, she is voiced by Annabelle Chow. Amma is Sula's guardian, a short blue-skinned elephant-like creature presumed to be a stuffed toy elephant. She runs the crèche and park café. Pando is an anthropomorphic panda who is Bing's second best friend and lives next door. He shares the catchphrase "Hoppity-voosh!" with Bing. Pando wears a white shirt, black shoes, and white briefs, and is often seen in yellow shorts before taking them off. In the British English version, Pando is voiced by Shai Portnoy in series 1 and Noah Hicks in series 2; in the American English version, he is voiced by Micah Gursoy. Padget is Pando's guardian, a short green-skinned creature presumed to be a stuffed animal. She runs the corner shop and can be seen jogging or driving her yellow tuk-tuk. Padget is voiced by Bryony Hannah in the British English version and Molly Wurwand in the American English version. Coco is a white anthropomorphic bunny, Bing's cousin and Charlie's older sister. At age 10, she is the oldest of the child characters and is described as a bit of a control freak. Coco is voiced by Jocelyn Macnab in series 1-2 and Caoilinn Springall in series 3 in the British English version, and by Alivia Clark in the American English version.
Production
Bing was based on the Bing Bunny book series by Ted Dewan. Acamar Films acquired the rights and produced the programme with Brown Bag Films and Tandem Films. Acamar Films CEO Mikael Shields selected Bing for development, believing the stories could help young children develop lifelong resilience. Shields served as voice director and a writer. The production involved 23 external writers, five internal writers, three Montessori teachers, American educators, and English language development experts.
