On August 25, 2014, Showcase announced that the fifth season would be the last, with the original 13-episode order increased to 16 final episodes. Bo's Origin Story and Season One

Bo is a succubus who grew up in an adopted human household, completely unaware of her Fae heritage until puberty made her feel something was different. Her first sexual encounter with her high school boyfriend accidentally ended his life when she drained his life energy. After her adoptive parents revealed the truth of her adoption, she fled, living under false identities and relocating every time she killed again. In the pilot, she rescues Kenzi from a drugged rapist, and the two quickly form a Fae-and-human detective partnership. When the local Fae leaders demand she align with either the Light or the Dark, Bo declares herself neutral and ultimately sides with humans after Kenzi risks her life to find out where Bo had been taken. Throughout the first season, she navigates romantic entanglements with Dyson, a Light Fae wolf shapeshifter working as a police detective, and Lauren, a human doctor held in servitude by the Light Fae, all while piecing together the truth about her origins.

Seasonal Escalation: The Garuda, Blood Powers, and Betrayal

Season two introduces the Garuda, a villainous ancient enemy of the Fae who is awakened with the intent to destroy the truce between Light and Dark and reignite the Great War. The new Ash, Lachlan, recruits Bo as his champion in the battle against the Garuda, and she agrees on the condition that he regard her as a partner rather than a servant. She also discovers she is Trick's maternal granddaughter and has inherited Blood Sage powers: when her blood contacts someone's open wound, it can enslave and bind the recipient to her will—the same ability her mother Aife used to create male slaves. She wields this power to unite her Light and Dark team in the final Garuda battle. Season three escalates further as former ally Hale becomes acting Ash, appointing Dark-aligned Valkyrie Tamsin as Dyson's new partner. Tamsin secretly serves The Morrigan, who wants to build a case for Bo's execution, while Kenzi is kidnapped by a crazed Kitsune who assumes her identity to deliberately sow distrust among Bo's closest relationships.
