Playing career
During the 2020–21 season, Källgren played 21 regular-season games for Växjö Lakers, recording 12 wins with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. In ten postseason appearances, he posted a 7–3–0 record with a .937 save percentage and captured the SHL championship. After that breakout year, he initially signed a two-year deal with Frölunda HC on 17 May 2021 as a free agent, but two days later exercised his NHL opt-out clause and agreed to a two-year, two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on 19 May 2021. He began the following season with the Toronto Marlies and was called up on an emergency basis on 10 March 2022 after starting netminder Jack Campbell was injured. That night he served as backup before entering the game after Petr Mrázek allowed four goals on twelve shots; Källgren made his NHL debut, playing over 30 minutes and allowing one goal in a 5–4 overtime loss. On 15 March, in his first NHL start, he recorded a 4–0 shutout against the Dallas Stars, facing 35 shots, becoming the fourth Maple Leafs goalie to achieve a shutout in his first start. After two seasons with the Maple Leafs organization, he left as a free agent and signed a one-year, two-way contract with the New Jersey Devils on 1 July 2023. He was assigned to AHL affiliate Utica Comets for the entire 2023–24 season, posting four wins in 16 regular-season games. On 3 May 2024, as a pending free agent, Källgren returned to Sweden by signing a three-year contract with Brynäs IF, who were returning to the SHL after promotion from HockeyAllsvenskan.
