Facts from the source article.
Playing career
Christer Olsson entered the NHL as a late-round pick, selected 275th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 1993 draft. After two seasons in Sweden, he split the 1995–96 campaign between the AHL's Worcester Ice Cats and his Blues debut. The next year, St. Louis sent him to the Ottawa Senators in a trade for Pavol Demitra, a deal that heavily favored the Blues as Demitra became a prolific scorer. Olsson's NHL tenure ended after a brief stay in Ottawa, and he returned to Sweden for seven more seasons, adding one year in Austria before retiring following the 2004–05 campaign.
Coaching career
After retiring following the 2004–2005 season, Olsson directly coached Leksands IF, mostly the representation team but also the under-20 team for two seasons. On April 20, 2011, he was named head coach of Leksand's representation team in the HockeyAllsvenskan. He was sacked later in 2011 and then joined EC KAC of the Austrian Hockey League, coaching parts of two seasons before being fired. He then became coach of rival EBEL club HC TWK Innsbruck for two seasons, after which he returned to Sweden as head coach of VIK Västerås HK of the Allsvenskan for the 2016–17 season.
