Playing career
D'Astous spent four seasons with the Rimouski Océanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, accumulating 49 goals, 132 assists and 181 points in 244 games. He was named a second team all star for the 2017–18 season, won the Emile Bouchard Trophy as the league's top defenseman, and received the QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year award for his community work. After junior hockey, he signed a two-year contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. He later signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Eagles after two seasons split between the Griffins and the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. During the 2021–2022 season, he played mostly for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, scoring 26 goals in 52 regular-season games, tying for third all-time in goals by a defenseman in a single season. In the playoffs, he set an ECHL record with 19 goals in 18 games, despite Utah not reaching the finals. Unable to secure a steady AHL role, he moved to Europe and joined KooKoo of the Finnish Liiga on a two-year contract. With KooKoo, he played 110 games, recording 24 goals and 69 points, and won both the Pekka Rautakallio trophy as the league's top defenseman and the Juha Rantasila Trophy as the top-scoring defenseman. D'Astous then signed with Brynäs IF of the Swedish Hockey League, where he recorded 12 goals and 39 points, helping the team finish first in the regular season and reach the playoff finals. He subsequently signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was called up to the Lightning's NHL roster on October 20, 2025, and made his NHL debut five days later in a 4–3 win over the Anaheim Ducks. On October 28, 2025, he scored his first NHL goal in a 5–2 victory against the Nashville Predators.
