Overview
Unlike earlier ITV evening news programmes, this one aired at a fixed 10:30pm slot each weeknight. Its primary competitor was the BBC One Ten O'Clock News, which typically drew larger audiences and started half an hour earlier. Another significant rival was BBC Two's Newsnight. On 31 October 2007, ITV announced plans to revive News at Ten, with Trevor McDonald and Julie Etchingham as presenters.
