Kandidate
British soul band with four UK chart singles on RAK Records.
Kandidate was a British soul band formed from members of Hot Wax (later Hi Tension) and 70% Proof. Signed to Vulcan Records in 1975, its sole single for the label failed to chart, but the band caught the attention of Mickie Most and moved to RAK Records. Four of its five RAK singles charted in the UK, with its highest position coming from "I Don't Wanna Lose You" after its use on the soundtrack of the film Sunburn. The band left RAK for Polydor Records in 1981, releasing two non-charting singles before splitting up; its proposed debut album, Positives, was shelved.
