Production & Creative Vision

The development of Spider-Man: Brand New Day stretched across nearly a decade. Sony was already planning a fourth MCU Spider-Man entry by August 2019, and by November 2021, producer Amy Pascal confirmed it would open a new trilogy for Tom Holland. Story work kicked off in December 2021, with Holland reportedly more hands-on in development than on his previous films. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers returned as writers by February 2023, and Destin Daniel Cretton was brought on to direct by October 2024.
