History
Benefits came together when singer Kingsley Hall, who had been in The Chapman Family, teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Robbie Major. The duo started putting out their own music during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their first album, Nails, came out on Invada Records in April 2023 and was praised for its intense energy and political themes. In 2025, they followed up with Constant Noise on the same label. This second record broadened their sound by adding electronic dance and rave influences, while keeping the sharp, politically charged lyrics that define them.
Live performances
Benefits’ live shows are marked by Hall’s imposing presence and Major’s aggressive sound. They debuted at Glastonbury’s Leftfield Stage in 2023. In 2025, the band capped ticket prices at £12 and set early curfews to help working-class fans and those reliant on public transport. A 2025 Lexington gig in London mixed dystopian themes with humor and emotional weight. The Times called their apocalyptic anger an exhilarating celebration, praising their energy and inventive wordplay.
