Dave Maric (born 12 June 1970) is a British composer and musician. The son of Greek and Bosnian Serb immigrants, he was born in Bedford, England, and relocated to London in 1988 to study at City University. His career began in the 1990s, when he regularly performed and recorded as a jazz and classical pianist with groups such as the London Sinfonietta and the Steve Martland Band. After 2000, he shifted focus to composing stylistically varied works for classical soloists, chamber and orchestral ensembles, and pieces combining live performers with computer-generated sound. From 2010 onward, his activities expanded to curating music and art events in London, as well as performing and recording with ensembles like Vicious Circus and the Colin Currie Group. In the 2020s, he moved to rural Scotland, where his work has engaged with the biodiversity crisis through rewilding, both artistically and practically.
Maric has composed for musicians including percussionist Colin Currie, guitarist Fred Frith, contrabassist Mich Gerber, trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger, jazz trio Phronesis, pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque, and violinist Viktoria Mullova. Many of his pieces have been choreographed, and he has created full-evening dance scores. He has also worked with Paris-based filmmakers Cserhati and Lartigue on short and feature film scores.
