Summary
Four elemental kingdoms once fought over the Trialight, a weapon forged by the archmage Wylde that only a Firestriker could wield. The wind kingdom eventually claimed victory and united all four realms under its rule. Unhappy with this peaceful outcome, Wylde dispatched four monsters to destabilize the world. Players take the role of Slader, the last Firestriker, aiding the wind kingdom in freeing the other kingdoms and defeating these monsters. The game plays as a pinball-style action title rather than a traditional role-playing game. The Trialight is a fiery ball that behaves like a standard pinball. The Firestriker can move freely across the screen but must keep the Trialight from falling off. Losing also occurs if the Firestriker is killed by monsters or fails to guide the Trialight to the screen’s exit. In one-player mode, the left and right shoulder buttons control a magician fixed at the screen’s bottom. Bosses must be overcome, and other Firestrikers can become allies to progress. The game includes two-to-four-player Firestriker duels and a two-player cooperative mode. Four-player duels resemble soccer matches more than two- or three-player duels.
