The Jules Rimet trophy was the original prize for winning the FIFA World Cup. Brazil won it permanently after their third title in 1970, as they became the first nation to lift it three times.

Brazil won the Jules Rimet trophy outright after their 1970 World Cup victory. The trophy was stolen from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in 1983 and was never recovered. CBF was later awarded a replica trophy.

The trophy was awarded to the World Cup winner from 1930 until 1970. Brazil's three wins (1958, 1962, 1970) earned them permanent possession. After the theft, a replacement trophy was commissioned.
