Family Pastimes
Pioneer of exclusively cooperative board games since 1973.
Family Pastimes is a board game publisher based in Perth, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1973 by Jim and Ruth Deacove, the company was the first to focus exclusively on cooperative games, a category it pioneered. Its titles require players to work together toward shared goals such as mountain climbing or harvesting a crop. By 1982 the company had over 60 games and was the largest cooperative game publisher in North America. An electrical fire in October 1983 destroyed $125,000 of stored inventory. Annual sales reached $200,000 by 1986.
