Crown (head)

The crown is the top portion of the head behind the vertex. Its anatomy varies between organisms; in humans, it consists of three layers of scalp above the skull, and contains blood vessels and branches of the trigeminal nerve. The crown provides a protective cavity for the brain and safeguards the neocortex.
