Biography

Peck's first performed song was Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues," which she still includes in her live shows. She wrote her first song before age ten and sang in church both as a soloist and in the choir. At sixteen, she joined The Neon Moon Band, performing locally. After graduating from River View High School in 1997, she formed her own band and played festivals and events before moving to Nashville, where she worked as a waitress while pursuing music.

In Nashville, publisher Clay Myers signed her to a songwriting deal with Barbara Orbison's Still Working Music, and she began writing for staff members. She then signed a recording contract with DreamWorks Records under executive Scott Borchetta. While working on her debut album, DreamWorks folded, and Borchetta founded Big Machine Records, which became her label. In 2005, her debut single "I Don't" (co-written with Clay Mills and Burton Collins) peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Her eponymous debut album followed in June 2006, reaching number 23 on the Top Country Albums chart and yielding two more Top 30 singles: "Findin' a Good Man" (her highest-charting single) and "Isn't That Everything." That year, she duetted with Jack Ingram on "Never Knocked Me Down," featured on his live album and drawn from the CMT program Outlaws 2005. Her fourth single, "Bad For Me" (co-written with Sherrié Austin), was released in early 2007 as the lead for a planned second album but stalled at number 46.

The album, Can't Behave, was released digitally on December 23, 2008; its title track single in January 2009 failed to chart, and Peck left Big Machine shortly after.
