Guts

Lore & Background

Born from a woman executed for witchcraft, Guts was raised in the violence of mercenary warfare before joining Griffith's Band of the Hawk. He rose to become their most formidable fighter, finding camaraderie he had never known. However, his life shattered during a ritualistic event where his comrades were sacrificed to demonic entities to grant power to his former friend.

Reader's Guide

In this dark fantasy setting, the concept of causality dictates that all things flow toward an inevitable future. The Brand of Sacrifice marks Guts as prey for demonic entities, binding him to a cycle of suffering intended by higher powers. Yet, his existence challenges the Idea of Evil itself. While the God Hand seeks to consume humanity through ritual and despair, Guts asserts agency through sheer will.

He refuses to accept that his life is merely fuel for another's ascension. His journey transforms from blind vengeance into a protective struggle for those around him. This tension explores whether free will exists when supernatural forces manipulate destiny. By surviving the Eclipse and continuing to fight despite overwhelming odds, Guts embodies the defiance of predetermined paths.

He proves that even marked souls can carve their own meaning out of chaos. The struggle is not just physical but metaphysical; every swing of his sword is a rejection of the cosmic order that demands his submission.
