Gameplay
In Gadget Land, a magic gem is stolen from the king's throne room, so he calls on the Gadget Twins, Bop and Bump, to get it back. These characters are red and blue airplanes. When playing alone, you control Bop, while a second player can take control of Bump. In two-player mode, players can attack each other and steal each other's weapons and coins. The game has six horizontal side-scrolling levels set in air or water. You earn coins by defeating enemies, which you spend on extra weapons. Your plane starts with an extendable boxing glove that punches in four directions. You can buy up to ten different weapons, but only four can be equipped at once to suit each level.
Reception
Critics were split on Gadget Twins. Mega Play found it charming and funny, saying it could stand on its own. Mega Drive Advanced Gaming disagreed, calling the whole experience disappointing. Mega praised it as a refreshing, lighthearted alternative to shooting aliens. Its gameplay drew comparisons to Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog, with reviewers highlighting the fluid animation and cartoon-style visuals.
