Background and release
After the January 2021 release of Kaibutsu, Yoasobi announced Yasashii Suisei as the ending theme for the second season of Beastars. The song draws from the short story Shishiza Ryūseigun no Mama ni, written by Paru Itagaki, the manga's author and illustrator. It was issued digitally on January 20, 2021, and later as a double A-side CD single with Kaibutsu on March 24. The single appeared in two editions: a limited anime edition and a fan club limited edition for Club Yoasobi members. Both included the original songs, TV-size versions, and non-credit opening and ending videos from Beastars; the fan club edition additionally featured acoustic sessions of Tabun and Ano Yume o Nazotte. Yasashii Suisei later appeared on the EP The Book 2, released December 1, and its English version, Comet, was slated for the EP E-Side on November 12.
