Dinosaur (TV series)

Scottish comedy drama about an autistic paleontologist.

Last updated

It was created by Matilda Curtis and Ashley Storrie, who also stars as Nina.[1][2]

Key facts and history

The BBC commissioned the series in 2022, produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with All3Media.[1] Principal photography for the first series started in Scotland during August 2023, with traffic management measures in Glasgow lasting through August and continuing into September of that year.[3] The debut season became available on Hulu starting 5 April 2024, and its initial BBC Three broadcast occurred on 21 April 2024.[4] Following the program's BAFTA Scotland victories for best writers and the Audience Award, a subsequent season was ordered.[5][6]

The complete second season was made accessible on BBC iPlayer from 5 February 2026, with the first two episodes airing on BBC Scotland that same date.[7] Production work on the second season had commenced by June 2025.[3]

What the cited sources add

Ashley Storrie described playing the unmasked autistic character Nina as a liberating experience that relieved pressure to behave like a normal person.[2] The Scotsman interview noted Storrie channeled much of her own experience into co-creating Nina, though she is not personally interested in dinosaurs.[2] The Comedy.co.uk announcement stated Series 2 would consist of six 30-minute episodes filming in 2025.[6]
