Sixty Minutes (British TV programme)
A short-lived BBC1 news and current affairs programme from 1983–1984.
Sixty Minutes was a BBC1 news and current affairs programme broadcast on weekday evenings at 5:40 pm from 24 October 1983 to 27 July 1984. It succeeded Nationwide and merged the BBC's regional news magazines into one show. Originally scheduled for 5 September 1983, its launch was postponed. The programme consisted of 15 minutes of news, roughly 20 minutes of regional news, and 25 minutes of national current affairs. It was poorly received, though its ratings eventually started to rise. A lasting impact was the later merger of the BBC News and Current Affairs departments.
