KK Sutjeska

KK Sutjeska is a men's professional basketball club from Nikšić, Montenegro. It plays in the Montenegrin Basketball League and the regional ABA League. The team won the Montenegrin Cup in 2014.
The club was founded in 1948. A coach from Belgrade, Vojislav Spasojević, first introduced basketball to the city’s youth. Soon after, Vule Vukalović joined the management, with help from international referee Dragan Jakšić, and the team took shape. Sutjeska’s first competition was a Montenegro-wide championship in Cetinje in 1950, where it beat Jedinstvo 24–20.
The club has changed names many times. In 1955 it became KK Nikšić, then KK Partizan Nikšić in 1957, and KK Mladost in 1962. That year, Mladost won the regional championship of Montenegro without a single loss. The players included Burić, Plamenac, Gvozdenović, Šturanović, Krstajić, Jovović, Zeković, Mijatović, Baletić, Filipovski, Vušurović, and Nikolić. The name reverted to KK Sutjeska in 1966, then to KK Partizan in 1970, and finally back to KK Sutjeska in 1974. The club kept that name until 2003, when it used several other names until 2010, when it registered again as KK Sutjeska.
On February 9, 2013, Sutjeska beat long-time rivals KK Budućnost Podgorica 64–55 in the Montenegrin Basketball Cup final. It was the first time since Montenegro’s independence in 2006 that Budućnost had lost the cup. On September 10, 2015, Sutjeska was admitted to the 2015–16 ABA League, its first regional competition.
The club’s fans are known as "The Dukes" (Vojvode). They were founded as an NGO in Nikšić in 1988 and are one of Montenegro’s largest supporter groups, following all teams under the Sutjeska name. The biggest rival is KK Budućnost Podgorica, whose fans are called the "Barbarians" (Varvari).
