History
Founded in 2016, REG took its first national title in 2017. The club made its African debut during the 2018–19 Africa Basketball League. Henry Mwinuka became head coach in November 2019 on a two-year deal. On October 30, 2021, REG claimed its first Rwandan championship by sweeping rivals Patriots 2–0 in the finals. Olivier Shyaka earned league MVP honors with 30 points in Game 1 and 22 in Game 2. That victory secured a spot in the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL). Former NBA player and coach Robert Pack took over as head coach on February 18, 2022. REG repeated as national champions in 2022, again beating Patriots, this time 3–2. The team returned to the BAL in 2023, reaching the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champions Al Ahly.
