Eurovision Song Contest
Their opportunity came in 1974 when, unusually for Germany, the song Die Sommermelodie was chosen by internal selection as the country's entry for the 19th Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton, England, on 6 April. The song was considered a particularly weak choice by German observers, and in a contest featuring already established international performers and the winning group ABBA, it shared last place with three other songs. Cindy and Bert entered the German selection again in 1978, with two songs finishing fourth and fifth.
