Swashbuckler

Lore & Background

Though not found in the official deck, the Swashbuckler legend persists among players who treat poker as a stage for glory. Its presence in fan wikis signals a desire for high-variance runs where hesitation is failure and reckless abandon yields astronomical scores. It serves as a reminder that while the cards will always be dealt, this specific artifact remains a dream of the community rather than a tool in the official arsenal.

Reader's Guide

The Swashbuckler functions by applying a multiplier bonus based strictly on the number of cards played in your hand during a turn. If you play a standard five-card hand, the Power provides no benefit, effectively acting as a placeholder that encourages you to expand your strategy. However, if you choose to play six or more cards, the Power activates, granting a significant multiplier boost for every card beyond the fifth. This mechanic rewards players who utilize high-count hands like Straights, Flushes, and Full Houses with extra cards.

It is particularly effective when combined with other Powers that increase hand size or allow for multi-card plays. Players should be aware that this Power does not guarantee a win; it merely amplifies the outcome of bold decisions. Using it requires confidence in your ability to construct strong hands from a larger pool, as playing too many weak cards can result in a wasted turn despite the multiplier.
