Primal (2010 film)

Premise

A group of six friends, including an anthropology student named Dace, travel into the Australian outback so he can examine ancient symbols near a cave. A strange rabbit with sharp teeth attacks them, injuring Kris before they kill it. Back at camp, Mel goes skinny-dipping in a pond and gets attacked by leeches. That night, she develops a high fever, loses her teeth, and bleeds uncontrollably. The next day, Mel transforms into a mutant with blade-like teeth, immense strength, and a craving for human flesh. She kills and eats Warren. Dace hides in the pond, but Anja, Kris, and Chad pull him out. Believing the leeches carry the parasite that changed Mel, and seeing no leeches on Dace, they think he is safe. That night, Dace shows the same symptoms Mel had before her mutation. The group argues over whether to kill him before he changes. Mutant Mel attacks, saving and hiding Dace so he can transform safely. Despite their efforts, she protects him, and the now-mutated, mindless Dace chases Kris. The two fully transformed mutants meet and sacrifice Kris to the cave. Anja realizes the mutants fear the cave and plans to escape through it. As Anja and Chad try to flee while the mutants eat Warren’s remains, Dace and Mel begin mating. Chad, overcome with jealousy and rage, attacks them. In the fight, both mutant Dace and Chad die. Anja runs into the cave and finds Kris, who has been impregnated by a monster—likely the source of the parasites. Kris cuts open her own stomach to remove the child, and Anja kills the monster after it crushes Kris. The next morning, Anja confronts mutant Mel, paralyzes her by kicking her into a tree and breaking her spine, then crushes her skull with a large rock.
