Dreadnaught (band)
Melbourne metal band known for shifting from progressive thrash to groove rock.
Dreadnaught is a metal band from Melbourne, Australia, formed from the remnants of Tasmanian bands including Fridge. The group released a single in 1995 and a full-length album the following year, which blended dark, introspective rock with melodic, progressive thrash metal. After a trademark conflict forced a spelling change from Dreadnought, the band signed to Roadrunner Records via the Dark Carnival development roster. Their style evolved from progressive metal to groove rock before returning to a heavier, progressive sound on their self-titled fourth album.
