Duboisia

Corkwood tree genus with stimulant leaves and pharmaceutical alkaloids.

Duboisia, known as corkwood tree, is a genus of small shrubs and trees with light wood and corky bark. Four species occur in Australia, one also in New Caledonia. Aboriginal Australians chew the nicotine-containing leaves of Duboisia hopwoodii with wood ash for stimulant and depressant effects. Some species contain scopolamine and hyoscyamine, used in pharmaceuticals.
