Gameplay

The goal is to bring the rest of the world under the player's control. Twelve armies are available, but only Yggdra and Milanor can be selected at the start; the other ten are unlocked by fulfilling two to four conditions per army, viewable on the selection screen with fulfilled conditions shown in red. Turns are divided into preparation, combat, and treasure hunting. During preparation, the player chooses a card from a face-down set; each card can be used only once per playthrough, and there are exactly as many cards as domains. If it is not the first turn, two Medallions are also received. A scout then reports on battles between enemy characters and geographical effects on territories; the player's conquered territory is never invaded or affected. The player then selects an enemy territory that touches their own to invade, proceeding to combat.

Plot

In the year 1490 M.D., Emperor Gulcasa of the New Bronquian Empire captures Fort Karona on the border of Fantasinia, killing its king. This event shocks the world and prompts every major power to attempt continental conquest. The player selects one of these nations, and their storyline unfolds through sandbox-style gameplay, culminating in world domination. There are twelve storylines, each following one of the twelve playable characters.

Release

A 127-page strategy guide was released by Enterbrain on December 25, 2009. The original soundtrack, published by Geneon Universal on February 24, 2010, contains all 40 in-game tracks plus a full-orchestral version of the Flash Movie BGM rearranged by Shigeki Hayashi and used in the promotional video; the booklet includes notes from Adachi about certain tracks. A drama CD was released by Frontier Works on March 25, 2010, featuring the same voice talent as the PSP version of Yggdra Union. The CD contains three short stories: the Kingdom of Fantasinia's Chapter, in which Yggdra and her forces seek allies against Bronquia and accidentally battle Milanor's group after an argument with Kylier; Milanor's Thieves' Chapter, where Milanor suffers bad luck with cards that cause desertion, transformation into Undines, and item breakage, while Kylier and Rosary compete for his attention; and a third story focusing on the Imperial Army, which is more serious and melodramatic.
