Matt Ryan is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the NFL for 15 seasons, primarily with the Atlanta Falcons. Nicknamed "Matty Ice", he ranks among the league's all-time top 10 in passing yards, passing touchdowns, attempts, and completions, and is the Falcons' franchise leader in each of these categories.

Ryan played college football for Boston College, winning the Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards and receiving first-team All-American honors in 2007. He was selected third overall by the Falcons in the 2008 NFL draft and took them to the playoffs in his first season, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year. He led the team to six playoff appearances and three division titles during his 14 seasons in Atlanta, with four Pro Bowl selections and one first-team All-Pro selection. His most successful season was 2016 when he was named NFL MVP and led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI. He played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 before being released in March 2023 and did not play another NFL game. He officially announced his retirement in April 2024. As of the 2024 season, he has not been inducted into the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor.
