Gameplay
In Fire Fighter, you control a firefighter on a fixed screen, spraying water to put out blazes inside a building whose size can change based on chosen options. If the flames climb high enough, the trapped person waits on the roof until the fire dies down. You can extend a ladder from the fire truck to rescue them from any floor that has no fire. The game offers a single-player mode or a two-player mode with alternating turns.
Reception
Contemporary reviews were broadly positive. Good Housekeeping praised the game for having the player save people and property rather than destroy them. TeleMatch gave it 4/6, praising its action and gameplay. TV Gamer described it as a pleasant, moderately challenging game but noted the novelty may wear off and boredom could set in. Videogaming Illustrated called it an exercise in stubborn, methodical perseverance rather than fun. The 1983 Book of Atari Software assessed it as a C+, praising graphics and sound but criticizing replayability. Retrospective reviewers have been less positive. Brett Weiss called it repetitious and incredibly dull, summarizing it as arguably the weakest title in the Imagic library. Classic Game Room said it is not at the same level as Imagic's own Demon Attack.
