Characters

Koro-sensei is a biological monster who became a teacher for Class 3-E so they could defeat him. Originally a hero who grew bored, Aguri Yukimura from Temple of Trade offered him the role of Demon King; the robe he wears gave him his yellow octopus-like appearance. Even as Demon King, he remained bored because no one could defeat him, leading him to teach Class 3-E. Nagisa Shiota is the main student, whose bug is randomized—ranging from making his body buff to reversing time without erasing memories.

His feminine face and figure allow him to equip items meant for female characters. Kaede Kayano is often seen with Nagisa; she loves pudding and has a complex about her small chest, treating it as her bug. Karma initially appeared as a genius Red Devil living in a northern cave. His bug causes his luck to drop drastically when he looks down on someone, exemplified by washtubs hitting his head repeatedly.

He joins Class 3-E after Koro-sensei defeats him. Yūma Isogai is the class representative and gentleman; he has the most hero-like armor but can only afford the front half, which is revealed to be his bug. Ryōma Terasaka leads a rebel clique; after a treasure box swaps his body in the anime, he is abandoned in a dungeon, trains to level 99, and becomes the strongest. A fake Terasaka speaks English and remains in Class 3-E after the real one returns.

Yuzuki Fuwa frequently breaks the fourth wall. Kunudon are basic slime-like orange monsters with slender hands, shoes, and kettle hats.

Media

The manga began serialization in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump on October 2, 2015, and concluded on October 4, 2019. An anime film adaptation premiered in Japan on November 19, 2016, animated by Lerche. A sequel anime series of twelve 10-minute episodes, a re-cut of the film, was announced. The opening theme "RE:QUEST!" is sung by Aya Suzaki as Kaede Kayano; the ending theme is an 8-bit version of the main series' first opening. Episode 10 uses the main series' fourth ending. Crunchyroll streamed the series, with Funimation providing the English dub starting January 12, 2017, featuring the original cast.
