May 1962

In May 1962, a series of unusual aerial objects were reported at multiple military sites in Argentina. At the Espora Air Base, sightings occurred on the 11th and 18th. On the 12th, three truck drivers—Valentino Tomassini, Gauro Tomassini, and Humberto Zenobi—were driving along Route 35 from Bahía Blanca toward Jacinto Arauz. Around 4:10 a.m., they spotted a lit object on the ground in a nearby field, about 100 meters away.

It resembled a railroad car. As their truck approached, the object lifted off, crossed the road at roughly four meters high, then went dark while a reddish flame appeared from its underside. It then split into two pieces, each flying away in a different direction. On the 21st, photographer Miguel Tohmé, working for the newspaper La Nueva Provincia, captured two images of a UFO described as being the size of a soccer ball in Bahía Blanca.

One photo ran on the paper’s front page the following day. Finally, between the 21st and 23rd, additional UFOs were observed at the Port Belgrano Naval Base.

27 October 1973

A truck driver named Dionisio Llanca arrived at a hospital in Bahía Blanca on October 30. He stated that three nights earlier, while driving from his uncle’s home toward Río Gallegos, he pulled over to change a tire. An intense light then froze him in place.

Llanca reported seeing a flying object and three beings—two men and a woman—who performed medical tests on him. He claimed he briefly regained consciousness hours later, about nine kilometers from where he had stopped. The incident was looked into by ufologist Fabio Zerpa and later appeared in his book El Reino Subterráneo.
