Boca Juniors is an Argentine professional sports club based in La Boca, a neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. The club is best known for its men's professional football team, which has always played in the top division since its debut in 1913.

The club was founded on 3 April 1905 by a group of boys, sons of Italian immigrants from Genoa, meeting at Esteban Baglietto's house. Irish immigrant Patrick McCarthy taught the fundamentals of football to local youths, including future founder Baglietto, and was asked to be the club's first manager. In 1925, Boca made its first trip to Europe, playing 19 games and winning 15, for which the Argentine Football Association declared Boca 'Campeón de Honor'.
