Facts from the source article.

Plot

The player takes the role of an anonymous DEA agent tasked with tracking down and neutralizing a drug baron in South America. The agent moves through locations including Sierra County, New Mexico, Chicago, the United States-Mexico border, and finally the baron's residence. At each location, three assignments are available; completing all three advances the player to the next area. Unlike the original Crime Patrol, the agent does not receive a promotion during the game.

Gameplay

Gameplay is similar to earlier American Laser Games titles such as Mad Dog McCree and The Last Bounty Hunter. The player aims a pistol to shoot enemies, reload, select locations, and choose pathways. Getting shot by a criminal or hitting an innocent civilian costs a life, and the player's partner scolds them. The gun has a limited number of bullets but can be reloaded at any time. The PC version supports a mouse or light gun and includes a single save/load slot.

Reception

Play Meter listed Crime Patrol 2: Drug Wars as the fifth most-popular arcade game at the time. A Next Generation critic noted that the full-motion video is slickly produced but suffers from choppy screen resolution and frame rate, along with overacting, and found the slow aiming cursor made the game unplayable without a Gamegun. GamePro's Air Hendrix agreed about the graininess and overacting but stated that both the control pad and Gamegun work poorly, recommending only a rental for those who enjoy low-budget cop films.
