Babar and the Adventures of Badou

Babar and the Adventures of Badou is an animated children's television series based on the Babar the Elephant character created by Jean and Laurent de Brunhoff. The show was produced by Nelvana, TeamTO, Guru Studio, Pipeline Studios, and LuxAnimation, in co-production with TF1 and with the participation of Playhouse Disney France/The Walt Disney Company France. Set years after the original series, it introduces new characters to the Babar universe, most notably Badou, Babar's 8-year-old grandson, who serves as the main character.

The series first aired on September 6, 2010, in Australia on ABC2, followed by Latin America on Discovery Kids on September 27, France on TF1's TFOU strand on November 8, and Canada on YTV on November 22. Colin Bohm, Vice President and managing director of Jumbo Pictures and Nelvana Enterprises, stated that Nelvana was excited to bring Babar into the 21st century with a new 3D TV series and a comprehensive licensing program from TF1. The series also premiered in the United States on Playhouse Disney.

A second season began airing on Disney Junior on March 25, 2013, and a third and final season aired from 2014 to 2015. A total of 65 episodes were produced across three seasons. This series marked the final time Gordon Pinsent voiced Babar before his death in 2023.

The series follows the adventures of Badou, who, along with his friends and family, solves mysteries, puzzles, and various situations in Celesteville. The city now includes animals other than elephants. While many new characters appear, some original characters remain, including Babar, Celeste, a grown-up Pom, Cornelius, Zephir, and Lord and Lady Rataxes. Other original characters—such as Alexander, Flora, Isabelle, Pompadour, Troubadour, Basil, Victor, Uncle Arthur, and all human characters like Madame—do not return, having aged, retired, or moved away.

Main pupil characters include Badou (voiced by Dallas Jokic and Drew Adkins), an elephant prince who lives with his grandparents and is full of adventurous spirit, idolizing his grandfather and wanting to prove himself. Chiku (voiced by Samantha Weinstein) is a monkey whose name means "canary" in Swahili; she is curious, talkative, inventive, and an accomplished dancer.
