Amityville: Evil Never Dies

The evil of 112 Ocean Avenue lives on in cursed objects.

Last updated

The story follows a married couple who buy a monkey doll that serves as a doorway to evil.[1] Dustin Ferguson both wrote and directed this 2017 American horror feature.[2]

Making and release

The film was released direct-to-video.[2] It is a sequel to Ferguson's 2016 film The Amityville Legacy.[1] The film is also known as Amityville Clownhouse.[2] Kristopowitz of 411mania.com described it as a sequel to Amityville Toybox.[3]

Kristopowitz called it a "mega low budget horror flick" written and directed by Dustin Ferguson.[3] Allan stated the film was later re-released as Amityville Clownhouse.[4] The plot picks up the narrative of a possessed monkey toy that clangs cymbals, which was removed from 112 Ocean Avenue.[2] A ScreenRant article by Allan describes how the 2016 film The Amityville Legacy (also called Amityville Toybox) centered on a cursed antique monkey toy from the DeFeo house, and that its 2017 sequel Amityville: Evil Never Dies (later re-released as Amityville Clownhouse) continues following that same cursed toy.[4]

What the cited sources add

Charlie Cargile of PopHorror reviewed the film on June 19, 2017.[1] Cargile noted the film has a "micro budget charm" and is "a fun take on Amityville lore."[1] Cargile wrote that the monkey doll is possessed by the force behind the original Amityville murders.[1] Cargile stated the film "mostly succeeds at delivering a solid film" despite technical issues.[1]

Kristopowitz described the film as "a bit of a romp."[3]
