Career
Ascension of the Watchers led the Surfacing Tour in October 2005, sharing the bill with John Bechdel’s other project, False Icons, and Still Life Decay, a New York industrial metal act Burton C. Bell had previously worked with. A 2006 update on the band’s site mentioned plans for a full-length album and special performances in 2007. Bell’s debut EP, Iconoclast, co-written with longtime friend Bechdel, first came out as a 12-inch vinyl in June 2005, recorded at Bechdel’s Pennsylvania home.
In July 2018, Bell confirmed the band would record a second album, Apocrypha—initially called Stormcrow. Welsh artist Jayce Lewis joined the lineup, handling production and mixing at his Welsh studio. After a Pledgemusic campaign succeeded, the platform entered liquidation, forcing the group to push forward independently. They eventually signed with Dissonance Records, setting an October 9, 2020 release for the album.
