Blade: The Series

Blade: The Series is an American television show created by David S. Goyer for Spike, based on the Marvel Comics character Blade. It exists in the same storyline as New Line Cinema's Blade movies and was made by New Line Television with Marvel Entertainment. The story picks up after the film *Blade: Trinity* (2004), with Sticky Fingaz playing Eric Brooks, also known as Blade. The two-hour pilot was directed by Peter O'Fallon from a script by Goyer and Geoff Johns. The series aired from June 28, 2006, to September 13, 2006, lasting one season. Critics gave it mixed reviews, praising the action but criticizing many clichés and the absence of Wesley Snipes in the lead role.

The plot follows Krista Starr, a soldier returning from Iraq, who discovers her twin brother Zack died under suspicious circumstances. She finds out Zack was a "familiar"—a human serving vampires in hopes of earning eternal life. Her investigation leads her to Marcus Van Sciver, the vampire who killed Zack, and to Blade, a vampire hunter. Marcus, a powerful vampire in the House of Chthon, turns Krista into a vampire by injecting his blood. Blade then approaches her, gives her a serum to control her vampire instincts, and offers her a chance to avenge her brother by helping him take down Marcus and the House of Chthon. Blade reveals Zack was helping him in a sting operation, and Krista reluctantly partners with him. The season follows Krista trying to keep her cover in the House of Chthon while struggling with her predatory urges, and Marcus working on the Aurora Project—a plan to create a vaccine making vampires immune to sunlight, silver, and garlic. It turns out Marcus sabotaged the project, creating a virus deadly to "purebloods" (the ruling vampire class) but harmless to "turnbloods" (vampires who were once human). With Blade's help, he releases this weapon in the season finale.

The main cast includes Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones as Eric Brooks / Blade, Jon Kent Ethridge as young Eric, Jill Wagner as Krista Starr, Nelson Lee as Shen (Blade's weaponsmith and hacker who also tracks the vampires that killed his sister), Jessica Gower as Chase, and Neil Jackson as Marcus van Sciver.
