Dog Eat Dog (band)

Bassist Dave Neabore had joined Mucky Pup before that band's second album, and guitarist Dan Nastasi quit Mucky Pup in 1989 to help form Non-Fiction.^[1] Kevin Reilly was invited to perform on saxophone, and after hearing live recordings Nastasi expressed interest and was asked to join.^[1] A friend of Mucky Pup who sometimes played guitar with them at social events, Sean Kilkenny, was brought in to take the place of Nastasi.^[1] Neabore and Kilkenny started composing music intended for Mucky Pup, but because the material didn't suit Mucky Pup's sound, they chose to create their own group.^[1]

John Connor, a friend who had previously worked as crew for Mucky Pup, became the vocalist, and the three of them created tracks such as "Funnel King", "Strip Song", and "Psychorama".^[1] Following an extended hunt, the group located a drummer called only Brett, and their first official concert took place on April 1, 1990, in Neabore's basement.^[1] A five-song demo was cut by the band, and through Kilkenny's connections with professional skateboarder Andy Howell, the doghouse logo that the group used for many years was created.^[2] On July 13, 1993, Roadrunner Records put out Dog Eat Dog's first EP, Warrant, across the globe; the name was a humorous dig at the band Warrant.^[3]

Their debut LP, All Boro Kings, came out on May 24, 1994, and achieved worldwide sales exceeding 600,000 copies.^[4][5]
